Community Safety & Reporting Policy

Last updated: 10 March 2026

1. Zero Tolerance for Harassment

Commonshelf Pty Ltd maintains a zero-tolerance policy regarding "Objectionable Content" and abusive behavior. Users must be at least 16 years of age to use ReShelvd. By using the app, you confirm that you meet this age requirement. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Harassment, stalking, or threatening behavior toward other traders.
  • Posting fraudulent book listings or using the book scanning feature to upload non-book content.
  • Hate speech, discrimination, or sexually explicit communication in the in-app chat.

2. Mandatory "Report and Block" Tools

To ensure a safe environment, the ReShelvd App provides the following built-in safety features:

  • Report User: A clear mechanism on every user profile and within every chat thread to report a user for violating these terms.
  • Block User: An immediate "Block" feature that prevents a specific user from seeing your library, your map pin, or contacting you further.
  • Location Privacy: Your exact address is never displayed to other users. Map locations are intentionally obscured to protect your privacy.
  • Report Categories: When reporting a user, you can select from categories including inappropriate content, harassment, spam, scam, or fake account, with space to provide additional details.

3. Our Enforcement Actions

Upon receiving a report, Commonshelf Pty Ltd will investigate the claim promptly. We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to:

  • Remove any content or book listings deemed objectionable.
  • Issue a formal warning to the reported user.
  • Permanently ban users who violate safety policies or engage in predatory behavior.

If you believe an enforcement action was taken in error, you may contact us at support@commonshelf.io to request a review of the decision.

4. Physical Safety Disclaimer

While we provide digital tools to report and block users, Commonshelf Pty Ltd does not have a physical presence at your trade locations.

  • Always arrange to meet in a well-lit, public place for book trades.
  • Consider bringing a friend or letting someone know where you will be.
  • Trust your instincts — if something feels wrong, leave the situation.
  • If you feel physically unsafe or are in immediate danger during a trade, you should contact local emergency services (000 in Australia) immediately.
  • Do not wait for an in-app report to be processed if you are in physical danger.
